It may be just over 80 days until aircraft take to the skies for the annual Wings Over Illawarra air show on Sunday 4 May 2014, but the event is already taking-off with the launch of online ticket sales this week.

Online tickets sales commence on Tuesday 11 February 2014 from the air show’s new website and include an early bird discount for general admission tickets purchased before 31 March.

A 17 percent discount applies to adult, children and family tickets, while seniors’ pension card holders will enjoy a 20 percent discount when buying their general admission tickets online before 31 March.

Also available online are the highly sought after Gold Pass tickets, which include access to reserved parking and grandstand seating, exclusive food and beverage vendors, free admission to all Historic Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) aircraft and Illawarra Light Rail Museum historic steam train rides. They will also receive a complimentary copy of the official souvenir program, a Wings Over Illawarra souvenir cap and have the opportunity to meet some of the stars of the air show.

A limited number of the exclusive Gold Passes are available at $120 each, with no concessions available.

Wings Over Illawarra Marketing Manager Andrew Herring says the event organisers are expecting online ticket sales to be popular.

“We know there are many people—locals and visitors from across NSW and interstate—who have been eagerly awaiting the launch of ticket sales for Wings Over Illawarra 2014.

“The Gold Passes are particularly popular with aviation and air show enthusiasts because they offer premium seating positions for the best viewing and photo opportunities along with a host of other benefits, so we do expect them to sell very quickly.

“If you want to secure your Gold Pass or save money on what is certain to be a fantastic family day out, get in early and get your discounted tickets online,” Mr Herring said.

Wings Over Illawarra 2014 will get underway when gates open at 9am on Sunday 4 May2014, with the spectacular flying program scheduled from 10.30am until 3pm. Airport admission will end at 4pm and gates will close at 5pm.

Show attendees are being encouraged to use public transport, with no onsite parking available for general admission ticket holders and limited public parking in locations around the airport.

“Wings Over Illawarra is the only air show in NSW that is right opposite a CityRail station. With a Family Funday Sunday ticket offering unlimited travel on all trains and buses for just $2.50 per person, it’s the smartest, easiest and cheapest way to get to the air show,” Mr Herring said.

Wings Over Illawarra 2014 will again feature Australian stunt pilot and Red Bull Air Race competitor Matt Hall, the RAAF Roulettes, several Australian Defence Force aircraft, the popular locally-based 1940s era airliner ‘Connie’ and other HARS aircraft alongside visiting historic warbirds and other unique aircraft.

For the first time ever, this year Wings Over Illawarra will also feature the Showtime Freestyle Motorcross Team – Australia’s most experienced and popular Moto X team – to perform death-defying airborne stunts several times throughout the day.

Wings Over Illawarra, one of the Illawarra’s largest events, is held annually on the first Sunday in May at the Illawarra Regional Airport in Albion Park Rail. Last year it attracted around 15,000 people and won a Gold Award in the South Coast Tourism Awards.
