Wings Over Illawarra Date Change for 2021 Air Show
August 26, 2021
After lengthy consideration and consultation with industry participants, the organisers of Wings Over Illawarra have made the proactive decision to push the 2021 event back by two weeks to the weekend of 27-28 November.
Originally set for 13-14 November, with a Schools & Careers Day on 12th November , Wings Over Illawarra Airshow has been postponed, and will now be running Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 November 2021, with Schools & Careers Day on Friday 26 November.
The decision has been made with the view to give the airshow the best possible chance to go ahead and minimize uncertainty for our patrons, exhibitors, stallholders and participants given the current COVID-19 landscape in NSW.
“Over the years we have faced many challenges with the unprecedented wind in 2014; floods forcing the cancellation of 2015; and most recently the 2020 show being postponed due to the pandemic, it is clear COVID-19 is by far our greatest challenge”, said Mark Bright, event director.
“With the postponement from 13-14 November to 27-28 November, we hope the health risk of the Coronavirus pandemic will have been mitigated by high vaccination rates, putting the 2021 Wings Over Illawarra Airshow in the best position for success”.
“The bottom line is that the safety and health of our staff, volunteers, attendees, exhibitors, stallholders and participants is paramount and by pushing the dates back, it is hoped that restrictions will ease, and that people will be eager to emerge from lockdown and experience the excitement of a world class airshow to lift spirits” said Mark.
All tickets purchased for 13-14 November will be reissued with the 27-28 November dates.
You’ve got questions? We’ve got answers!
Why have you changed the dates?
We acknowledge it’s been a tough year and we want to being what is now going to be this years largest air show to the aviation community. In order to give Wings Over Illawarra the best opportunity for success, we have decided to push the show back two weeks.
The air show has moved from its 13-14 Novmeber date, and is now being held on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 November. We promise we will still deliver exceptional ground displays and flying demonstrations of historic, military, modern and aerobatic aircraft as well as vintage car and motorbike displays, children’s rides and other aviation and technology related exhibitions.
I already have tickets, are they valid?
Yes! If you have already purchased tickets, we wlll reissue those tickets with the new dates reflected.
Will you be reissuing tickets with the new dates like you did last year?
Yes! Over the coming weeks we will reissue tickets. The new reissued tickets will reflect the new dates.
I have a camping pass, is this still valid?
Yes! The camping pass will simply transfer to the new dates.
