WINGS OVER ILLAWARRA ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH DEFENCE FORCE RECRUITING
October 11, 2021
As organisers of the Wings Over Illawarra airshow, Bright Events Pty Ltd are optimistic when looking ahead and are excited for the airshow to be held in November. After a tough year for all, especially in the events sector, the airshow will bring much needed fun and entertainment to the region with support from our newest partner.
Bright Events are delighted to announce our new partnership with Defence Force Recruiting for the 2021 Wings Over Illawarra airshow, to be held at the Shellharbour Airport on the weekend of November 27 & 28, with a Schools & Career Day scheduled on Friday the 26th of November.
Defence Force Recruiting will bring experienced Navy, Army and Air Force members to the airshow to showcase the unique, rewarding, and exciting careers on offer in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Each ADF member has a different story to share, and this just may be where your own ADF story begins. You’ll find the Defence Force Recruiting crew throughout the event, or you can track them down to have a chat and find out more at one of their stalls. You will find them adjacent to the Gold Pass Grandstand and within the NSW Drone Expo exhibitor booths.
Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said this new partnership added an extra dimension to what promises to be an inspirational event for the Illawarra region and its visitor economy.
“Aviation enthusiasts are already going to be in for an absolute treat during the nation’s largest airshow, but thanks to this partnership with Defence Force Recruiting the event may also provide a vocational pathway for those inspired by the amazing aerial feats they witness.” Mr Ayres said.
“As NSW reopens, large-scale events will play a vital role in the social and economic recovery of our regions, which is why the NSW Government is supporting Wings Over Illawarra. It is going to be a spectacular weekend, with images shared worldwide inspiring future visitors to enjoy their own Illawarra experience.”
Organiser Mark Bright said, “We are thrilled to have Defence Force Recruiting come on board as an official partner for the 2021 Wings Over Illawarra airshow. They have always been a huge part of our event and we are so grateful for their continued support especially during these tough times.”
Lieutenant Richard Phillips of the Defence Force Recruiting Centre in Wollongong is busy preparing his team for an action packed weekend.
“My team are all in the middle of our own exciting Defence careers, but the best part of our job is heading into the community, introducing people to roles and opportunities they didn’t know existed and sharing our passion for the jobs, lifestyle, mateship and experiences the ADF can offer.”
If you just can’t wait for the airshow, find out more about a career in the ADF now by visiting www.defencejobs.gov.au or by calling 13 19 01.
